How awesome is Miradry?!

If you haven’t heard, here at the office we do a non-invasive procedure called Miradry. If you look back at a past blog (click here) you can read about it in more detail. We wanted to share with you some of our patient testimonials for how they felt how well the treatment worked here in our office! Take a look, and then give us a call if you have any questions or would like to schedule!

“I am a 65 year old male in Central Texas. I had trouble with excessive sweating since my occupation require that I wear several layers of dark clothing that are tight around the neck and absorbs and retain heat. Not aware of the procedure, I read an advertisement in the local paper and made an appointment to consult with Dr. Rude who has assisted me with some previous procedures.
I have confidence in Dr. Rude and his staff. I had the first appointment and was surprised when the doctor did not perform the procedure. I was completely satisfied with the nurses who treated me in the pain free procedure; as they talked me through each step. I was given great instructions when I left and I had absolutely no complications, little swelling and absolutely no pain nor discomfort. I was ready for the second procedure, but had to wait a given period of time.
It has been eight months since having completed Miradry Procedure. I could not be happier and would tell anyone that it is worth the cost. I am completely dry. I have saved money on less dry cleaning and less purchase of new clothes. It is amazing that this procedure is available to our local community; whereas we do not have to travel to a large medical center to find someone trained to do this”

“The Miradry procedure has had a huge impact on my daily life.  I didn't realize how much I had adjusted my habits, clothes purchases, clothes washing, and activities, all because of excessive underarm sweat.  Now, I truly do not even need to wear antiperspirant even in hot, humid conditions.  I would estimate that I had an 85-90% reduction with my 2 treatments.   I can choose any fabrics to wear, and I don’t have to treat the armpit area for washing.  The one hour, non-invasive procedure was so easy and had instant results.  A bonus is the elimination of most of your underarm hair also.”

Here are two testimonials that were developed from conversation:

One of our male patients in his 40’s has told us that the Mirady procedure was a “game changer” for him.  Prior to his procedure 10 months ago, he would “sweat through” his clothes within 10 minutes of dressing himself.  He no longer has this problem; in fact he remains dry throughout the entire day!  He is also now able to snuggle up close with his wife on movie nights without any reservations related to his excessive sweating.  That’s a win in our books!

A second male in his 40’s that we have recently done the Miradry on, cannot speak highly enough about the procedure.  He remains “bone dry” the entire day, does not require deodorant (that’s a hard habit to break!), and is even ODOR FREE!  He has had a small reduction in the hair in his axilla, but he states he “could care less”!

Am I a Candidate for Zeltiq?

The best way to know if someone is a candidate for Zeltiq is of course physical examination. The best candidates for Zeltiq have small excess pockets or bulges of fat that they don’t like. Zeltiq works by isolating a bulge of fat and then freezing it between two cooling plates. The fat is able to freeze at a warmer temperature than water would freeze. The analog usually used is comparing butter in the fridge to milk. This allows us to freeze the fat without injuring the skin. The fat is then melted away.

Zeltiq represents a nice result. It is not for large fat reduction. It is best for smaller pockets. That said, people can and do repeat the treatment in the same area. You do not have to do multiple treatments to see a result but you can treat the same area multiple times. We usually expect a 25-30% reduction in the fat thickness that is pinched. The most popular areas are the abdomen/tummy as well as the hips (muffin top). The next most common area is back (the fat of the back that is affected by bras).

Frequently Asked Breast Augmentation Questions

Will I lose sensation in my nipples or breasts?

I tell all my breast augmentation patients that changing in nipple sensation is a risk of surgery. It is not common to lose the sensation in the nipples following a breast augmentation but it is certainly possible. Some times nipple sensation can take several weeks or even months to come back. It is common enough to have a patient complaining of too much sensation or hypersensitivity of her nipples commonly around two weeks after surgery when the nerves are beginning to fully wake up after surgery.

Frequently Asked Breast Augmentation Questions

What diet and lifestyle changes will I need to make before breast implant surgery?

Prior to surgery we do give patient a list of medication as well as foods to avoid. Most of these are for the week before surgery and revolve around not inadvertently taking in any unneeded blood thinners. There are no other significant life style changes that have to be addressed.

Frequently Asked Breast Augmentation Questions

What do you recommend to treat pain after breast implants?

For postoperative pain we take a very proactive approach. If patients are not allergic we start them on an anti-inflammatory and pain pill the night before surgery as well as the morning of. We also give them Tylenol before surgery. These help block the amount of pain that the patient feels during surgery. This subsequently reducing how much pain medicine they require after surgery and how much pain they feel. I also anesthetize the breasts with local anesthetic at the time of surgery. This has been very helpful in reducing pain after surgery. There is a now a long acting local anesthetic that can last up to three days. While most patients following augmentation have not required this, it could be of a benefit if someone is particularly worried about postoperative pain. All of the measures we take we found make breast augmentation a very reasonable experience from a pain management point of view.
